Pedro E. Maldonado es Profesor Titular del Departamento de Neurociencia de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Chile, donde dirige el Laboratorio de Neurosistemas. Es además investigador principal del Centro Nacional de Inteligencia Artificial (CENIA) e investigador asociado del Instituto Milenio de Neurociencia Biomédica (BNI).
Es Licenciado en Biología y Magíster en Ciencias Biológicas de la Universidad de Chile (1986), y Doctor en Fisiología de la Universidad de Pennsylvania (1993). Realizó su postdoctorado en el Center for Neuroscience de la Universidad de California, Davis, y se incorporó a la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Chile en 1997.
